I learnt a new word today!

I looked up today’s prompt, “proclivity“, in the dictionary, and then on Google just to get the hang of the word. Yeah, I don’t know the word. I don’t think I’ve ever heard, seen, or used it before, but for some reason, the word sounds very familiar……. Hmm…. yeah, whatever 😂

Looking it up in the dictionary and on Google made me more confused than I was at first, I guess. And if not that I saw Beth’s post, It’s What I Do, I wouldn’t have participated in today’s daily prompt. 😂

So, Thank you Beth. I learnt a new word today and it’s all thanks to you! 😊

Now, combining the knowledge gained from three trustworthy sources, I’ve learnt that “proclivity” is more like something you love doing for no specific reason, or in Beth’s words, “…..something that you just do because, well, it’s what you do.”

Music is the first thing that came to my mind after knowing the definition of “proclivity“. I’m addicted to music. In fact, I do almost everything whilst listening to music. (Bathing, Eating, Writing, Working, Walking, Sleeping…) I just looooove listening to music! And I know my love for it won’t diminish anytime soon. 😁

What about you though? What’s that thing that you just loooooove doing for no specific reason?

I want to know. 😊

  1. I wrote my post halfway before today’s daily prompt and I felt like you. I didn’t know the word “proclivity” so I search in google and it’s good to find out that the word can fit my posting.
    I have proclivity to procrastination (sad)

  2. Learning new things is fun. Isn’t it?
    Music is just such a phenomenon – Is there someone who DOESN’T like music? Sure, we listen to different genres, but we all can’t live without it.
    I’d add reading/ writing to that.

      I’m with you though! I can’t live without music 😊
      Yeah, I wanted to add reading and writing, but I thought since proclivity is about stuff I do for no reason, I shouldn’t add writing….. Since I write for a reason.
      Crazy, huh? 😕

      That reasoning makes sense. But it’s something that comes to you naturally, that you don’t have to force yourself to do. But I understand that writing sometimes is work and we don’t always want to do it.

  7. I’ll say mine is;
    Proclivity of misbehaving for no just reason
    Proclivity of showing kindness to people even when they don’t show it back
    Ploclivity of listening to music, music is life to me
    Proclivity of making people smile and happy in my own little way, I’m fun to be with, you can’t be with me for minutes without smiling.
    And maybe proclivity of initiating conversation with strangers

  10. Wow!, loved this post. I have seen so many posts on dailyprompt:Proclivity. But not as genuine and knowledgeable as yours. Little bit, I have gained a knowledge about you so you love learning, reading and gaining knowledge. Right?
